A scholastic shotgun team from Nebraska was crowned as a national
champion Sunday as the nation’s best young sport shooters competed for
medals and scholarships. The Scholastic Clay Target Program sporting
clays national championships were held at the National Shooting Complex
in San Antonio.
There were five divisions in the competition. Nebraska’s
One Box Sub Juniors team competed in the Junior Experienced Division.
The five team-members combined to break 860 targets out of a possible
1,100. Each team-member received a gold-medal belt buckle and a $1,000
scholarship savings bond from the National Shooting Sports Foundation,
the professional trade association for the firearms industry and
competition sponsor.
Team members, all of Broken Bow, include Brody
Sikes, Jacob Hueftle, Logan Spanel, Print Zutavern and Ethan Johnson.
David Stunkel of Broken Bow is the team’s coach.

2nd—Texas, Alpine Clay Crushers, 794
